Thomas is a Melbourne-based clinical neuropsychologist offering people a better understanding of the way that brain health affects the way they think, feel and behave. His experience in clinical, academic and industrial settings has fostered an appreciation for the unique challenges faced by people from all walks of life.
Thomas is an endorsed clinical neuropsychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, and a member of the Australian Clinical Neuropsychology Association. He obtained a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology from La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honours from the University of Newcastle, receiving the Faculty and University Medals, and multiple awards from the Australian Psychological Society.
Thomas has enjoyed working as a clinical neuropsychologist in outpatient rehabilitation, inpatient settings, clinical research and specialist diagnostic services where he maintains a keen interest in dementia syndromes and complex brain injury. He has worked extensively with folks from complex psychosocial backgrounds through Corrections Victoria, the Alcohol Related Brain Injury and Assessment Service (ARBIAS), and Turning Point Addiction Neuropsychology Service, and the Eastern Cognitive Disorders Clinic. Thomas has also held various sessional academic roles teaching into undergraduate and specialist postgraduate psychology programs across multiple universities.
In his private practice, Thomas offers neuropsychological consultation and assessments for people with a wide range of conditions affecting the brain, and provides neuropsychological evidence for the Courts. In addition, he also sees patients in the Epilepsy and Memory Clinics at St Vincent’s Department of Neurosciences, and supports trainee psychologists as the Cognitive Assessment Lead in the Swinburne University Psychology Clinic.
This all follows Thomas’ first career as a fully qualified carpenter where he worked for his family business in domestic construction.
